Kazokutchi, Project & Copyright by So Kanno, Akihiro Kato, Takemi Watanuki

The residency artists selected by the European Media Art Platform will offer insights into our present and possible futures. They will deal with the living dead, men giving birth and Yamaguchi's laying NFT eggs.

The European Media Art Platform (EMAP), co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union aims to support collaboration projects by emerging artists who work critically with technologies in the fields of video, digital art, robotics, bioart and other forms of media art. Since the launch of the platform in 2018, 44 projects have been commissioned, 13 of which received international awards. Many more EMAP commissions have been presented at prestigious institutions such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Barbican in London, and the Venice Biennale. Following an international open call which received 500 artist proposals from 37 countries, we are excited to announce the selected artists for 2022. Each of the 15 media artists and artist groups will take part in an international two months, fully-funded residency with an EMAP partner organisation, culminating in several group exhibitions within the next 3 years.

About European Media Art Platform

The European Media Art Platform (EMAP), initiated by Werkleitz and co-funded by Creative Europe since 2018, is a consortium of leading European media art organisations specialising in video, digital art, robotics, bio art and other forms of media art. The consortium has 15 members and over 80 partners, and it includes renowned festivals, laboratories and institutions that investigate and present these interdisciplinary art forms. Through an open call, EMAP members offer emerging artists two-month residencies to support the production of new projects and the development of their professional careers. EMAP is built on the legacy of the European Media Artist in Residence Exchange (EMARE) which has existed since 1995. EMAP also acts as a platform for members and partners to select artists and works for festivals and exhibitions they organise. In addition to production support for artists, EMAP provides an international platform for collaboration and the promotion and dissemination of media art. For more information, visit www.emare.eu
