In the previous year the annual RIXC festival made a turn by changing its title and course – from early networked cultures of 90s and “art+communication” ideas, the festival has now made a shift towards more broader art and science fields.

This year festival has two fold intent. The first, is to explore more profoundly transformative potential of art, by reflecting upon the changing social cultural landscape of Europe and globe, taking into account the shifting geophysical, geopolitical and technological vectors that are shaping it. The second, is to explore the changing notion of contemporaneity and its impact on the media art and networked cultures in 21st century.

Taking place in framework of Changing Weathers project, the festival program will feature Open Fields – an international academic art and science conference, providing a theoretical base for the festival exhibition. The exhibition will take place from September 29 – November 6, 2016 in the new Exhibition Hall of the National Library of Latvia, complemented by public lectures, artists presentations, workshops and performances.
