Modernās un laikmetīgās mākslas muzejs Rijeka izsludina pieteikšanos ceļojošajai rezidencei, kas trijās dažādās vietās norisināsies no 2017. gada oktobra līdz 2019. gada februārim, RISK CHANGE projekta ietvaros. Rezidence paredzēta Marseļā (Francija), Novisadā (Serbija) un Budapeštā (Ungārija).

Aicina iesniegt tādus pieteikumus, kas paredz sadarbību starp maksimums diviem māksliniekiem / ekspertiem ar vietējām migrantu kopienām, kas rezultētos jauna/u starpdisciplināra/u mākslas darba/u radīšanā.

MMSU / Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka announces an OPEN CALL for participation in a touring residency that will take place on 3 different locations from October 2017 until February 2019, within the scope of the RISK CHANGE project. The project covers the field of contemporary interdisciplinary culture, art and creativity connected to science aiming to build connectivity between new-coming migrants and settled inhabitants of multicultural EU communities. The project focus is twofold → terrible RISKs the migrants are taking and the CHANGE needed in Europe to receive the migrants in our countries.

During this project, 9 international project partners will research related subjects concerning migration in Europe through solo & touring residencies, exhibitions, research, symposiums, open labs, workshops, study visits, all bundled in an innovative digital platform to ensure communication towards the European public.

The Call is encouraging proposals that carry a collaborative aspect between max two artists / experts with local migrant communities that will result in creation of new interdisciplinary artwork/s. The proposals should reflect the theme of the Risk Change project by exploring the socio-political pressures that are conditioned by the movement of the population, or those that condition migration, exile and change of residence, through interdisciplinary and intercultural approaches.  Selected artists / experts will develop their artwork/s, managed by 3 production managers, during the 3 co-working units, each lasting for 10 days on the following locations:

  1. Marseille, France: Oct 30 – Nov 8, 2017
  • Partner on the location: ZINC / Arts et Cultures Numériques
  • The selected project’s holders will have access to ZINC’s medialab (digital discovery and practice space) and fablab (digital manufacturing site) as well as all the equipment available, namely : computers with DTP software, 360 ° camera, augmented reality masks, traditional do-it-yourself tools, computer-controlled machines (3D printers, 2D and laser cutters, CNC) and sound and video equipment. Max. two days of technical/scientific assistance will be provided. They will also benefit from a personal workspace and accommodation on site for the duration of the residency period.
  1. Novi Sad, Serbia: 10 days in April or May, 2018
  • Partner on the location: MSUV : МСУВ / Muzej savremene umetnosti Vojvodine
  • Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina will provide logistic and technical assistance by Museum staff. Museum will also provide its own Cinema Room which could be used for presentation of the works, program, panel. Also, depending on the program of the Museum that will be present during the residential program, Museum could possibly provide its own spaces which can be used for one-day event or short period of work. Same as the spaces, and depending on the program, Museum could possibly provide basic list of technical equipment.
  1. Budapest, Hungary: 10 days in February or March, 2019
  • Partner on the location: ACAX /Agency for Contemporary Art Exchange
  • The ACAX | Agency for Contemporary Art Exchange is an independent, non-governmental initiative. ACAX offers professional assistance to realize the artists’ ideas in terms of finding the right experts and skilled professionals for consultations and providing appropriate services in any needed field, from craftsmen’s workshops to digital, printing and photo studios to execute the planned projects. ACAX invites the resident artists to share their planned projects’ ideas in advance to discuss the practical details and consult about the feasibility and conditions of the realization during their stay in Budapest.

Partners on locations are co-organizers of residencies that will organize a place for work and help out with the infrastructure support in terms of co-workers, equipment and will facilitate the collaboration with local migrant communities.

The proposals will be evaluated by curatorial committee assembled from partners’ organizations   and will be announced on the official website of partners, by September 15th. On the advices of the international committee, MMSU will proceed to the final selection. The selected proposal will be granted with the accommodation, travel costs, and subsistances. Separate amount is dedicated for the artist fee: net amount up to 2.500 €. All costs are covered by MMSU. The fee will be split in two parts and paid on the occasion of visiting Novi Sad and Budapest. No additional material cost will be covered by partners.

The proposal must contain:

  • personal information: name, surname, birth date, address, telephone number, e-mail
  • professional CV/s with an overview of your past productions/projects/references,
  • description of the proposed work with a note of intent / motivation (one page),
  • appropriate documentation (sketch, photo and video, etc.) which will enable insight into the proposed outcome,
  • technical needs required for the production of artwork/s.

Incomplete applications and applications that do not meet the prescribed requirements will not be taken into consideration.
