As part of the opening program of the Greasy Agenda exhibition opening by Ugis Albins, on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 19:00 the Fire dwells in Xylem performance by Tuan Mu and Rodolphe Macabéo will take place.
Fire dwells in Xylem is an eco-poetic performance that interweaves acoustic vibrations from Ķemeri’s flora with East Asian contemplative thought, yielding granular soundscapes. It is a result of the artists’ work at the RIXC residency.
Tuan Mu (Taiwan, b. 1994) is an artist and independent curator based in Taipei. After graduating from Taipei National University of the Arts with a major in Ink Painting, he began seeking ways in which new media could reinterpret the unique worldview of traditional Asian culture, using a poetical approach to explore human perception and thinking in this age of technology. His artworks often develop from Buddhist and Taoist philosophies, East Asian animism and mythological tales. Combining media such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, animation, sound performances, ink painting and calligraphy, Tuan Mu’s artworks compose a transdisciplinary narrative structure, and engage the viewer in a dialogue. His artworks have been presented in numerous international exhibitions, including Durres Biennale, Athens Digital Arts Festival, Asia Digital Art Exhibition, CutOut Fest, Miami New Media Festival, Now & After International Video Art Festival, Venice Immersive Market Taiwan Pavilion, Festival ECRA, CineGlobe Film Festival, CYFEST Media Art Festival, RIXC Art Science Festival and Bogotá Short Film Festival.
As a curator, Mu attentively focuses on the potential of cross-cultural study and identity issues in contemporary contexts. His curatorial practices often engage curators, artists, and local people in fieldwork. During this he contemplates how exhibitions are constructed, recalibrating curatorial expectations and ideals. His curatorial proposals have been selected for the SLY Art Space Emerge Curator Project, NCAF Curator’s Incubator Program, and nominated for the Taishin Art Award. His curatorial projects include the exhibition Home: Foundation, Wall Cancer, Skin, and Shelter (2023, Taitung Art Museum, Taiwan), Humus (2023, MoCA Taipei, Taiwan) and Beyond Interfaces—Taiwanese Video Program (2024, Mirzoyan Library, Armenia).
Rodolphe Macabéo is a Franco-Canadian composer, sound artist, and performer exploring the porous boundary between music and the living world.
After four years as Head of Sound Creation at an immersive art studio, he stands at the forefront of musical innovation, blending generative systems, instrumental improvisation, spatial composition, and field recording to redefine the relationship between composed music and environmental sound.
Through experimental listening devices – such as stethophones, ultrasonic sensors, and electromagnetic transducers – he captures the hidden vibrations of reality, revealing the bioacoustic dimension of our environments. His meticulous attention to sonic detail anchors a deeply melodic sensitivity, crystallized in his upcoming album De la nature des choses (December 2025), where poetic form meets bioacoustic textures from the salt marshes of Hyères in France.
Macabéo’s practice often extends to collaborations and immersive installations.
His works have been presented internationally at the Palais de Chaillot (France), UCCA Labs and the Boxes Art Museum (China), the Ludwig Museum (Budapest), MUTEK (Canada), the Avant Galerie Vossen, and the FRAC in France.
