We are glad to welcome the Latvian artist Krista Dintere at the RIXC Fields residency within the framework of the RIXC Immersive Art and Nature residency!

Krista Dintere is an artist from Liepaja, Latvia working in between the fields of Sound Art, Experimental Composition, Media arts and creative research. Recently focusing on site-specific installations and soundscape compositions which try to reveal the relationship between factuality of field recordings and fictional sonic worlds created using artistic interpretation. During the residency, the artist will create a new sound artwork.

During the residency, the artist will explore environmental sounds in two ways in a project called "Voice – Echo". The first, inspired by traditional recording and post-processing methods of soundscape composition and ecology, by searching for sounds specific to the immediate surroundings of the residency. In the second, with the same field-recording attitude, the artist is going to explore the non-local soundscapes produced by machine-learning tools. In the process, hybrid soundscape miniatures will be created to be deployed in a spatial installation.
