Pēc RIXC Mākslas un zinātnes festivāla 2025 “Augu intelekts” Rīgā, simpozijs „Plants_Intelligence”, kas notiks no 2025. gada 31. oktobra līdz 2. novembrim Bāzeles Mākslas un dizaina akadēmijā FHNW sadarbībā ar HEK (Elektroniskās mākslas namu), iezīmē noslēgumu četru gadu pētniecības projektam „Plants_Intelligence.Learning Like a Plants”, ko finansē Šveices Nacionālais zinātnes fonds (SNSF) un kas atrodas HGK Bāzeles Art, Gender, Nature institūtā (IAGN).
Simpozijā pulcēsies galvenie projekta komandas pārstāvji, diskutējot par projekta rezultātiem – Yvonne Volkart (projekta vadītāja), Felipe Castelblanco, Julia Mensch un Rasa Šmite, kopā ar pētniecības partneriem kā Birgit Schneider un Katja Tielbörger, teorētiķiem kā Giovanni Aloi, Michael Marder un Jeremy Narby, un aktīvistiem, piemēram, Florianne Koechlin.
Teorētiskie, mākslinieciskie un eksperimentālie formāti paver diskusiju par augu intelektu, parādot, kā augus var uztvert estētiski un politiski kā apzinātas un saprātīgas būtnes.

Ņemot vērā pašreizējo pasaules izsīkšanu, mums jādomā par citām pasaules veidošanas metodēm – augu metodēm –, kas nevis patērē pasauli, bet gan to atjauno un rada. Kopā ar augiem veidojot pasauli, mēs varētu mācīties no tiem. Tas attiecas arī uz mākslu.

“Plants_Intelligence” komanda pievērsās šim uzdevumam, balstoties uz spekulatīvu starpdisciplināru diskusiju par augu intelektu. Šī diskusija norisinās jau apmēram 15 gadus botānikas, neirozinātņu, filozofijas un mākslas perifērijā. Tā ir izaicinoša un pārsteidzoša, jo zinātniskie pētījumi tagad var pierādīt to, kas alternatīvajā augu zinātnē ir zināms jau sen, proti, ka augiem ir spējas, ka tie rīkojas un mācās, uztver un apstrādā informāciju, ražo un veido. Mēs uztveram augus kā fizisko un ķīmisko materiālu, spēku un efektivitātes kopumu, kas rada dzīvi, kas pārsniedz cilvēka mērogu. Tie ir dalībnieki ekoloģiskās saistībās un attiecību notikumos. Tādējādi tie ir situatīvi un reaģējoši. Tie atšķiras no dzīvnieku veida pasaules veidošanas, vienlaikus esot saistīti ar tiem un ar mums.
Kopā, iekļaujot dažādas perspektīvas un pieejas, mēs apspriedīsim, ko augu inteliģences atzīšana nozīmē mākslinieciskajiem jautājumiem un augu estētikas un politikas formulēšanai, kas mēģina pārvarēt mūsu kultūru, kas izšķērdē pasaules resursus.
