On October 3 to November 9 Latvian origin American mathematician Daina Taimina exhibition Hyperbolic planes, which goal is to create analogue 3D handcraft objects – hyperbolic planes, combined with digital visualizations.
These installations are dedicated to future of Baltic sea, which is threatened due to pollution. Represents of different generations and nations from Latvia and other Baltic states will take part on creating of this installation. Main goal of this project is to highlight Riga as multi-layered, for cooperation open, Europe city, contrasting it to old school concept – metropolis.
Everyone is invited to become a part of this project, by sending in their crochets until September 15. But there is one condition – in creating process you have to use used white or light material (for example, unpicked yarns, white plastic bags, etc.)

At the end of project all collected peaces will be crocheted together, by creating 3D object. Project started in january, by inviting people of Riga and Latvia take part in collective crocheting on hyperbolic planes and creating single social network, by taking part in Daina Taimina organised workshop.
New media artists from Liepaja University Art research lab in cooperation woth network researchers Valdis Krebs, Rasa Smite and Raitis Smits also will take place in this project, by creating visualization of social networks and art works.
Project will close in october, when Daina Taimna and Liepaja artist exhibition will take place in kim? Contemporary art centre at Spikeri.
