Rute Marta Jansone. "Smoulder" exhibition opening at RIXC gallery, 2023

Join the performance of the Smoulder exhibition by Rute Marta Jansone at the RIXC Gallery on Friday, May 12 at 18:00!

The exhibition "Smoulder" is a collage made by the artist Rute Marta Jansone, where she reveals and visualizes the complex layers of the individual and collective unconscious. In the programme's final event, artist Rute Marta Jansone invites the audience to a performance. In this performance, she continues to explore and question what we perceive as real and what is illusion, how we create, interpret and perceive the images of the archetypes.

The performance is an invitation to the viewer to experience and discover the diverse nature of the humans, an archetypal, individual and collective landscape of unconscious images. The performance will be an inter-active experience with the viewer, the artist and the artwork. Similar to the artwork itself where the artist has purposefully made space for the individual interpretation of each viewer, as well in the performance by interacting with the process the observer becomes an important element in the reality of the work.

The exhibition is open at the RIXC Gallery until the 13th of May.

In the exhibitions “Smoulder” artwork identifies the components of the individual's unconscious layer, which reveals the different nature of the humans, its origins and identification with the help of psychoanalysis - the images of the archetypes. Exhibition combines video recordings, photogrammetric scans, 3D animations, performance recordings, nature footage and prose texts, centered on innate human behaviors and personality patterns. The artwork includes a multi-layered arrangement of poetic images and symbols; at the same time, it is both a psychological self-portrait of the author and a landscape of images of the collective unconscious.

Rute Marta Jansone lives and works in Riga. Artist is studying in the professional doctoral programme at the Art Academy of Latvia, researching the correlation between affects as emotions and figuration in performance art. In her artistic practice, she focuses on the psychic and emotional reality of the human being, the relationship between the conscious and the unconscious, as well as issues of perception, identity and belonging. The artist combines digital media, painting and performance in her work. Rute Marta Jansone holds a Bachelor's degree in 2020 and a Master's degree in 2022 from the Art Academy of Latvia, Department of Visual Communication.
