On Friday, June 20, Raitis Šmits will take part in the Conversation Festival LAMPA discussion “Nordic Open Archives and Digital Futures”.

How can digital technologies bring new life to our cultural heritage? This panel will discuss how museums and artists in the Nordic and Baltic region are using artificial intelligence, augmented reality and Web3 to reinterpret historical archives, making them interactive and accessible. Examples of how classical art connects with generative media will be discussed, as well as the openness of data in contemporary art.

The LAMPA Conversation Festival is an environment and an impulse for continuous self-improvement in an ever-changing world. The content of the festival is unwavering - it is two joyful days to sharpen your mind, expand your horizons and challenge your perceptions. It is an inspiring and exciting platform for all who have something to say. For all those who want to learn and talk about issues of importance to Latvia, Europe and the world.

The Festival is a large-scale initiative, an open platform, the content of which is created by more than 300 organisations and active individuals, working together to create a place where opinions can be exchanged in a free, relaxed atmosphere, and topics of public interest can be discussed in a respectful way. Everyone has the opportunity to register and organise their own event at LAMP.

The festival team consists of the Open Society Foundation DOTS, Swedbank, advertising agency Armadillo, communication management agency Deep White, Cēsis Municipality and the British Council. The festival is hosted by Cēsis Castle Park and inspired by similar democracy festivals in Denmark, Sweden and Estonia. Entrance is free.
