Jānis Borgs (LV)

Drawings (1977)

The conceptual work, which idea was addressed to random computer program, was established in time, when Latvian society wasn’t familiar with computers. The aim of work was to create product, independent from subjective “I” and artists will. In work creating process, Janis Borgs relied to the dice. After throwing dice, artist with radiograph drew the lines, number of which coincided with dice showed number. It was a test, forwarded on future – is it possible to create product that depends on mechanical calculations, not person? The main thing is vision of future, not work form. Work is exhibited as monument to past century avant-garde.
